Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork is my go-to for a delicious, hassle-free dinner. You simply slow cook, grill, roast or saute the pork and its the perfect weeknight meal. In this recipe, I put the Seasoned Carnitas in the slow cooker in the morning and it was ready to go in the pasta by dinner. You can also saute it beforehand because the prep work is already done for you! You are going to fall in love with the flavors of Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork. It is slow-marinated and perfectly seasoned, and available in a variety of mouthwatering flavors including; Roasted Garlic and Cracked Black Pepper, Roasted Golden Rotisserie, Sweet Teriyaki, or Applewood Smoked Bacon. It is available in a variety of cuts including pork roasts, loin filets, chops, ribs, sirloins, and tenderloins, and can be sliced or cubed for faster cooking.
You start by preparing your fresh pork. I chose to slow cook the Smithfield Seasoned Carnitas, but you can also saute, grill, or roast Marinated Fresh Pork Products. Once your carnitas is finished, you saute the peppers until tender and remove them and set aside on a plate. You then prepare the creamy sauce and let it simmer until it starts to thicken. Add the pasta and carnitas to the pan and toss until heated. This is also great served with your favorite toppings. Tomatoes, chopped avocado, cilantro, all work great.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 package Smithfield Boneless Pork Shoulder Seasoned Carnitas
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 8 ounce pasta,
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese
- ¼ teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- Optional toppings: Chopped cilantro, avocado, diced tomatoes,
INSTRUCTIONS
- Prepare seasoned carnitas according to package directions. Set aside. Bring water in a large pot to a boil and cook pasta until al dente.
- In a medium-sized skillet over medium-high heat add olive oil. Add peppers and saute until tender. Set aside on a plate.
- Add heavy cream, sour cream, parmesan cheese, chili powder, cumin, and paprika to the skillet. Whisk and let simmer until it starts to thicken. Add pork and peppers to the sauce and toss until coated and heated through.
- Serve with optional toppings.
